Aaron Ramsdale sends message to Jordan Pickford after Leeds United chant

Aaron Ramsdale has explained why he loves being compared to Jordan Pickford when rival fans attempt to mock him.

Ramsdale joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in the summer and has quickly been labelled as one of the purchases of the season so far due to his impressive start with the club.

That impressive form has led to the Gunners goalkeeper challenging Pickford for the number one England jersey.

But Pickford has been in fine form himself this season and kept his 50th Everton clean sheet in the goalless draw with Tottenham before the November international break.

Ramsdale showed his joy as he celebrated in front of Leeds United fans when Emile Smith Rowe scored his side’s fourth in their 4-1 win at the weekend.

Ramsdale’s antics have often led to opposition supporters giving him plenty of stick with one of the most common chants aimed at him being about him being a 's***' version of the Blues star.

But when asked about the chant during an appearance on the Tubes & Ange Golf Life channel, Ramsdale admitted he loved being compared to Pickford given how good the Everton man is.

He said: “You know the funny thing is when they sing that, it is like they are trying to insult me by saying I am a really good goalkeeper.

“He was our player of the tournament in the summer. If I am a s**t one of him I’ll take that.”
