Aaron Ramsdale outlines what would be a 'perfect' season for Arsenal ahead of North London Derby

Aaron Ramsdale has described what would be a 'perfect' season for Arsenal ahead of this weekend's North London Derby with Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners currently sit top of the table and Mikel Arteta's outfit will be looking to build on their early form.

Arteta's men have won six of their opening seven league games and have played some fine football along the way. Their opponents on Saturday have also been playing well, though. Antonio Conte's side, as well as Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, are the only teams in the division who remain unbeaten so far. A victory over Arsenal would see the Lilywhites leapfrog the Gunners to first in the table - temporarily at least.

Ramsdale and Co. will be confident that they can secure all three points with a win. Victory will be another step in the right direction for Arsenal as they look to achieve their targets this campaign. With that in mind, the 24-year-old has outlined what would be the 'perfect' season for his team.

"We had a great season [last season]. When I signed, they said the plan, the perfect plan, would be Europa League, which we got," he told The Joe Cole cast. "It was a disappointing end because we were in a position and we lost out to our rivals. We’re in a position now where, the steps in progress we’re taking and we’re achieving and we’ve added some great quality this year.

"Let’s be right, we’ve got more of a chance of winning the Europa League than we have the Champions League at this moment in time. Silverware would be perfect for us and the boss is really hammering that home at the moment, that we can have a great season and win a trophy.

"Personally I’d want to win the Europa League and if that means we sacrifice by finishing 5th in the league, you still qualify for the Champions League and you win silverware with it. But Champions League for sure. And then I think we give it a real good go in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, one of the domestic cups with a European trophy would be a perfect season.

"The fans always have banter with other teams over when you last won trophies, so why would you not go and try and win the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup and for me that that would be a dream, to win a couple of trophies this year."

Arsenal supporters will likely be very happy with a trophy or two. Let's see if Arteta's team can deliver that to them.
