Aaron Ramsdale delivers honest verdict on Arsenal's start to the season under Mikel Arteta

Aaron Ramsdale's Arsenal career has got off to a promising start.

Ramsdale joined the Mikel Arteta revolution from Sheffield United in the summer, signing for £24million, a fee that raised some eyebrows considering he was relegated in each of the previous two seasons.

However, the 23-year-old has since displaced Germany international Bernd Leno from the starting lineup, registering three clean sheets across four Premier League games.

The former England Under-21 international has admitted that the Gunners' start to the season hasn't been ideal but has claimed that they have since turned the corner, obtaining 10 points from their last four league fixtures.

"We had a tough start, no ones hiding away from that, we played a newly promoted team who made it difficult, we had complications over the start of the season that we’re not looking at now because we’re looking forward and two of the best teams in the league," Ramsdale told Sky Sports.

"Now we’ve turned the corner hopefully with four good performances or four good results and you can start to see the structure of the team and one that’s getting together on the training pitch and on the pitch."

The former Bournemouth 'keeper also admitted it was a proud moment when Gareth Southgate called him up to the England squad for the upcoming international break.

He continued: "It was something I was hoping would happen and you never know but I was happy to get the call - it's another proud moment for myself.

"Obviously it shows hard work from myself and getting myself into the team and into the spotlight for Gareth to pick me but now, whatever happens, I’ll go, enjoy it and full focus on England now."
