Aaron Mooy in Celtic transfer link as midfield star tipped for Ange Postecoglou reunion at Parkhead

Celtic have been linked with a move for Australian international Aaron Mooy as the midfielder is tipped for an Ange Postecoglou reunion.

The Parkhead club have appointed the Greek-Australian boss as Neil Lennon 's replacement and he will start work as soon as his mandatory quarantine period is over.

A big rebuild is on the cards with the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and Kris Ajer set to leave the club.

A sporting director is expected to be appointed at Celtic but the new manager may also look to use his own contacts and a link has emerged to former Brighton and Huddersfield player Mooy.

According to Australian outlet SBS there is serious talk in Shanghai about an approach from Celtic for the 30-year-old.

Mooy is currently playing for Shanghai Port but may well be keen on a return to Europe thanks to tough restrictions in the Chinese Super League.

Due to Covid rules all players are confined to two ‘bubbles’ in the cities of Guangzhou and Suzhou and can only leave their hotel to train and play games.

Mooy has a Scottish wife and, according to SBS, his current club would be unlikely to demand a huge fee to let him leave.

The Australian worked under Postecoglou for the national team, and would have to take a salary cut to move to Celtic.
