Aaron Mooy Celtic injury revealed as Ange Postecoglou provides Taylor, Carter-Vickers and Starfelt latest

Aaron Mooy will miss Celtic's clash with Hibernian at the weekend through injury.

The Australian will be a miss for the Scottish champions as they look to continue their unbeaten league run against Lee Johnson's side. Mooy has been integral for Ange Postecoglou's team in recent months, shown exponentially by his early goal against Hearts last weekend to seal a place in the last four of the Scottish Cup.

But the 32-year-old won't make Saturday's clash says Postecoglou but the Australian coach did move to ease fears around the defensive trio of Greg Taylor, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt.

Taylor was left out of Steve Clarke's squad for upcoming EURO 2024 qualifiers with the Scotland boss urging Celtic to 'elaborate' but Postecoglou confirmed the former Kilmarnock star is fit. There was also a shock exclusion for American international Cameron Carter-Vickers from the USA squad which sparked further injury concerns but the 25-year-old is also available.

Defensive partner Carl Starfelt was taken off against Hearts last weekend and replaced by Yuki Kobayashi, but the Swede is also said to be available. New man Tomoki Iwata, however, won't be ready for the game.

The Celtic boss said: “Aaron Mooy will miss out, he has been a bit sore the last couple of weeks and probably won’t be able to get up for this weekend. And Tomoki Iwata got a bit of a back strain and couldn’t train.

“At a push both could have played but with a two-week break we have decided to leave them out. But Daizen Maeda is back and Carl Starfelt, who went off at half-time (against Hearts), is fine as well.”
