Hearts have sealed a second deadline day signing after Irish midfielder Aaron McEneff arrived to bolster their promotion push.
The Jambos have pushed the boat out to land the 25-year-old playmaker on the same day Coventry City winger Gervane Kastaneer arrived on loan until the end of the season.
McEneff has signed a two-and-a-half year contract in a deal which is understood to have been worth around £175,000.
Robbie Neilson and sporting director Joe Savage identified the playmaker as an ideal replacement for Olly Lee who left for Gillingham earlier in the month.
Sporting director Savage said: "Aaron is someone that I’ve been looking at for the best part of four years and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring him to Hearts.
“He’s been one of Ireland’s standout players for a couple of years now, evidenced by his recent international call up.
“I’m sure the fans are going to be excited by him; he’s really energetic, a box-to-box midfielder who can chip in with goals as well."
McEneff was also attracting interest from the English Championship but it’s understood the attacking midfielder was swayed by the prospect of better game time at Tynecastle.
The 25-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur youth - who had a spell on trial with St Mirren in 2015 - rose to prominence last season as he helped the Dublin side win the League of Ireland title.
McAneff scored 18 times in 59 appearances for Rovers - seven of those last season - and won a call-up to Stephen Kenny’s Ireland squad for the November Nations League clash with Bulgaria.
Although he didn't play on that occasion McEneff is seen as a future international.
