Aaron McCarey incident to be discussed by Irish FA disciplinary committee

The Irish FA's disciplinary committee is set to discuss Aaron McCarey's straight red card against Coleraine.

Glentoran goalkeeper McCarey was sent off after lashing out at teammate Bobby Burns following Cathair Friel’s late equaliser at the Oval.

Glens boss Mick McDermott says there will be consequences for McCarey's actions but added that he won’t ‘crucify’ the 29-year-old shot-stopper for his actions at the weekend.

McCarey has already been sanctioned with violent conduct which means he is initially banned for three matches.

The association's disciplinary committee will now meet discuss whether further action is needed.

Correspondence relating to the incident involving McCarey and defender Burns will be sent to the Irish FA’s Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday afternoon for consideration.

The committee is expected to provide comment on the incident by the end of this week.
