NEW YORK _ Aaron Judge sustained a chip fracture in his right wrist during the Yankees' 7-2 win over the Royals after being hit by a pitch Thursday night.
The 26-year-old slugger suffered the injury on the ulnar styloid bone, the team announced, and surgery hasn't been recommended. The Yankees believe it will be about three weeks before Judge can swing a bat in a game situation again.
Judge, who was the designated hitter, was hit by a Jakob Junis 93-mile per hour pitch in the first inning, but still came in to lead off the bottom of the third. He singled on an infield hit back to the pitcher that inning, but Miguel Andujar pinch-hit for Judge in the fourth.
The Yankees announced he was seen by the team doctor and then sent New York Presbyterian Hospital for an MRI.
