Aaron Judge smacks two home runs, powers Yankees past rival Red Sox

NEW YORK _ Aaron Judge is on a torrid pace, even in a 60-game season. Judge smacked his fifth and sixth home runs of the early season, driving in five, as the Yankees won their sixth straight game, 9-7 over rival Boston.

Judge's first shot to left field came in the second inning, scoring three and giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead. Later in the eighth, after DJ LeMahieu's RBI single tied the game at seven, Judge sent a second ball to left field. putting the Yankees ahead, 9-7.

"I really think he's on a mission now," said manager Aaron Boone after the Yankees became the only 7-1 team in the majors. "When he got that clean bill of health in summer camp, he started ramping up."

It was the fifth straight game in which Judge has homered, the longest streak by a Yankees player since Alex Rodriguez in 2007. Judge and Rodriguez are also the only two Yankees ever to hit six home runs in the first eight games of a season.

Judge is currently on pace for 45 home runs in this shortened season, but could be chasing history this week. With a home run Monday, Judge can have a streak of at least six straight games with a home run for just the 33rd time in the history of MLB. The league record, by the way, is seven straight games done by three players: Ken Griffey Jr., Don Mattingly and Dale Long.
