NEW YORK _ See you in September?
That seemed to be the new timetable for Yankees' slugger Aaron Judge, who is still dealing with discomfort from a July 26 chip fracture to his right wrist.
"I think it usually takes about four-to-six weeks for stuff like that to heal, so, wait for those six weeks," said Judge, which could potentially delay his comeback until the Sept. 7 series at Seattle.
The original three-week timeframe for Judge's return was a misjudgment by the Yankees. Judge underwent a cortisone shot last week and "it's kicking in," though the pain remains.
"It's still healing. It's still fractured. (There's) still a little bit of pain in there," Judge said after the Yankees' 10-2 win against Toronto on Sunday afternoon. "But that's what we're just trying to get past right now."
On Sunday, Judge conducted agility drills on the field. He's also done outfield work and some throwing but he won't handle a bat until he's pain free, though the progress could progress quickly once he's allowed to swing.
