Aaron Hickey transfer latest as Celtic face battle with elite clubs to snare Hearts star

Celtic face a battle with a host of top European clubs if they want to secure the signature of Hearts wonderkid Aaron Hickey.

The Jambos willl look to move on their top talent after relegation to raise some much needed funds but the star's contract only has another year to run and would have been likely to depart regardless.

Record Sport told you in April that Bayern Munich were interested in making an offer for the two-footed 17-year-old.

Bayern have already raided Scottish football when they moved to secure highly rated Celtic kid Liam Morrison last year.

They join the Scottish champions, Chelsea, Lazio, Manchester City, Crystal Palace and AC Milan in an apparently ever growing group of top clubs with a serious interest in the kid, who turns 18 on June 10th.

City looked favourites to secure the deal last year when Hearts representatives including chairman Ann Budge and former manager Craig Levein travelled to England in December to discuss a deal as part of wider talks on the partnership between the two clubs.

However a deal was not secured with Pep Guardiola's side and now other sides have also come into contention.

Hickey was on Celtic's books as a kid and the Parkhead club are understood to be keen on bringing him back along the M8 to continue the incredible growth he has shown since emerging towards the end of the 2018/19 season.

He starred in the Scottish Cup Final aged just 16, keeping James Forrest quiet in a star making performance despite the Jambos losing the game.
