Christophe Berra insists Celtic signing Aaron Hickey would be no surprises to him.
They have reportedly submitted a bid of £3.5million for the former Hearts defender, who left Tynecastle last summer to sign for Bologna.
But now a return to the Scottish Premiership could be on the cards if the Hoops’ offer is accepted.
And former Jambos skipper Berra isn’t surprised Ange Postecoglou is making his move.
He told the Scottish Sun : “Aaron’s a Celtic supporter, he’s from Glasgow and Celtic were his first club.
“So, it’s not a surprise if they’re looking to take him back.
“I’ve seen talk of a fee in the region of £3.5m and that probably won’t all be paid up front.
“You’re looking at basically less than £1m for every year of say a four-year contract and I think for Aaron’s age and potential — especially when you consider some of the fees elsewhere for players that young — it would appear good business.
“I’m pretty confident Aaron would be a quality player for them.”
Napoli have also been linked with a move for Hickey but signing for his boyhood club would likely hold more appeal for the teenager, who was on the book at Parkhead before moving to Hearts as a youngster.
