Aaron Hickey's Bologna salary 'revealed' as former Hearts youngster gets huge wage boost

Former Hearts youngster Aaron Hickey has boosted his salary to nearly £8,000 a week after moving to Bologna.

The 18-year-old made the switch to Serie A in the summer, turning down the likes of Bayern Munich to move to Italy.

Hickey has immediately impressed and was subbed off to a standing ovation on his first start against Parma.

And it seems the Scotland youth international has earned himself a healthy financial boost by moving to Bologna, according to figures published in Gazzetta dello Sport.

Every season the newspaper releases the salaries of every Serie A player, as well as the total wage bill for the division.

It's no surprise to see that Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest-paid player in the division, with the Juventus superstar taking him a net €31million per season.

Juve's total wage bill runs to a whopping €236m, lightyears away from the €43m total that Bologna are paying their staff.

Hickey will still have seen an earnings boost, however, with Gazzetta listing his salary at €450,000 per season.

That's a net figure and means the left-back is taking home around £7,800 per week according to the newspaper's figures.

Hickey is still near the bottom in terms of income though, with Roberto Soriano and Nicola Sansone the top earners on €1.6m per season.
