Aaron Hickey 'eyed by Manchester City' as Hearts youngster's rapid rise continues

Manchester City are reportedly "keeping tabs" on Hearts youngster Aaron Hickey.

The 17-year-old's rapid rise reached new heights on Sunday with a dramatic winning goal in the Edinburgh derby.

He debuted in May but has quickly established himself in Craig Levein 's side and that has attracted the attention of the Premier League champions.

The Daily Mail report Man City have yet to formalise their interest but are tracking Hickey's progress.

The Etihad giants sent Japanese youngster Ryotaro Meshino on-loan to Tynecastle in August and scouts travelling north to watch him have also picked up on Hickey's potential.

He became the youngest player since 2008 to start in the Scottish Cup Final following May's defeat to Celtic.

But following the 2-1 win at Easter Road on Sunday, Hickey insisted he's keeping his feet on the ground.

“The season starts now. We have to move on from this,” he said.

“I need to get back to the usual and get my game head on again.

"I still have to take the kit, balls and mannequins out for training each morning. That’s just normal for me - keep the head down and work hard.

“All the young boys have these jobs to do and rightly so. We are young players and, although we are in training with the first team, we have to keep calm and keep our heads.”
