Aaron Hickey earns Golden Boy nomination as ex-Hearts star listed on incredible list

Former Hearts star Aaron Hickey has been nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award.

The left back has been brilliant since moving to Bologna after his breakthrough at Tynecastle.

And he’s now been listed alongside some of the world’s best youngsters in the nominee list.

The incredible list of names also includes Scotland star Billy Gilmour and the likes of Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and Barcelona wondered Pedri.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Sako, AC Milan’s Daniel Maldini and Leicester’s Luke Thomas are all also on the list to show just how talented the players selected are.

Hickey moved to Bologna last summer but is yet to earn a Scotland call with Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney his competition for the left back spot.

He could be capable of playing right back for his country but has struggled with a shoulder injury that ended his season back in March.

Hickey made just 12 appearances for Bologna but did impress despite injuries and Covid-19 causing him issues.

He had previously made 33 appearances for Hearts with the likes of Steven Naismith, Craig Levein and Robbie Neilson all full of praise for him.
