Aaron Hickey Celtic transfer blow as Fiorentina step up pursuit of former Hearts star

Celtic have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Aaron Hickey.

The Hoops had reportedly made a bid of £3.5million in a bid to land the former Hearts star from Bologna.

But there is interest from Italy in the teenage left back as well with Napoli and Fiorentina keen.

And La Viola appear to have moved to the front of the queue after transfer talks between the two clubs intensified according to La Nazione.

The Italian outlet claim Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic is keen to hold on to Hickey after paying the Jambos £1.5million for him last summer.

But with Fiorentina apparently willing to offer €5million, then a decision may have to be made.

Ange Postecoglou could be forced to look elsewhere for a left back if the Florentine outfit have indeed stolen a march on Celtic.

Greg Taylor is the recognised first choice in that position after Diego Laxalt's loan ended.

Boli Bolingoli remains on the books and is dong pre-season with the squad but doesn't appear to have a future there.

The Scotland international could return to action in the weekend friendly against Charlton after having some time off alongside the club’s other internationals following their Euro 2020 campaign.

Postecoglou’s men got their Welsh training camp off to a winning start with a win over Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.

Albian Ajeti, Owen Moffat and Odsonne Edouard were all on target as Celtic came from behind to win.
