Aaron Hickey bids Hearts farewell as Bologna move edges closer

Hearts youngster Aaron Hickey has confirmed his exit from the club in an emotional farewell.

The defender is set to complete a move to Italian outfit Bologna and although it's yet to be confirmed by either club, Hickey has said goodbye on social media.

The 18-year-old has spent four years at Hearts after joining from Celtic’s academy and has been a key player over the last 18 months.

The Hoops were one of a number of clubs who were interested in signing him.

German giants Bayern Munich have also shown interested in him as well as a host of English outfits, but he's decided to head for Italy and he'll fly out for a medical with Bologna on Wednesday.

And Hickey took to Instagram to say: “After four amazing years at the club, I want to give a massive thanks to my family and friends, all the players, staff and fans for supporting me through the years.

“Wishing all the best to @heartofmidlothianfc in coming seasons.”

Hickey has made 33 appearances for the Jambos since making his debut at the end of 2018/19.

He was named man of the match against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final a week later and is now set for a move to Serve A.

His only goal for the club came in a 2-1 win over Hibs.
