Aaron Henry listed as ‘rising star’ for next basketball season

Aaron Henry, a freshman last season, was not the highest ranked recruit in his recruiting class at Michigan State, but he still managed to burst onto the scene last season, and ultimately landed in the starting lineup for the Spartans’ tournament run. Well, the national media has taken notice and Henry was recently flagged as a ‘rising star’ by NCAA.com correspondent Andy Katz.

A six-foot-six power forward, Henry found playing time last year through his tenacious, versatile defensive ability. He also averaged 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds-per-game. Katz wrote:

“Henry’s potential is soaring. He should flourish next to Cassius Winston and a healthy Joshua Langford next season.”

Katz also noted Henry’s ceiling, which he thinks could huge if he can prove himself on offense:

“He showed plenty during the NCAA tournament, scoring 20 in the win over LSU in the Sweet 16. His defense will continue to improve but his ceiling will be shattered by his ability to make shots, get to the rim and elevate above the defense in the open floor.”

Henry flashed his offensive skillset more in the Tournament, which bodes well. He averaged 10.4 points and 5.2 rebounds during that stretch.
