The Los Angeles Rams have already said there won’t be fans allowed inside SoFi Stadium for the foreseeable future, at least preventing them from attending the season opener against the Cowboys on Sept. 13. It’s the same approach many teams have taken thus far due to the coronavirus pandemic, so it’s hardly surprising news coming from the Rams and Chargers.
Aaron Donald has said several times this offseason that games won’t be the same without fans, and on Saturday, he told reporters that he’d like to see the NFL try to find a way to have at least some people inside stadiums.
With stadiums being as big as they are, he thinks there might be a way to spread fans out safely.
“I feel like we need fans in there just for the excitement and the fun, but ain’t nothing I can do about it,” Donald said, via the Associated Press. “I think we can try to figure something out to get some type of fans in there, but I don’t know. I feel like it’s a big stadium. Spread people out. But it ain’t my call.”
It’s unfortunate that the Rams are opening a new $5 billion stadium and won’t be able to have fans in it to start the year, with the same going for the Chargers at SoFi Stadium, too.
There will be a point when fans will be able to attend Rams games, but it’s unclear if that will be this season.
