Aaron Donald: Matthew Stafford is making throws ‘that still shock me to see’

Matthew Stafford may be 35 years old, but he’s certainly not playing like one of the oldest quarterbacks in football. He’s actually playing like one of the best.

In his last three games, Stafford has 10 touchdown passes and only one interception, the lone quarterback in the league with at least 10 touchdown passes in that span. He’s making some wildly impressive throws all over the field, too, like the one to Puka Nacua during Sunday’s game against the Ravens, which is one of the best throws you’ll see all season.

Aaron Donald is in his third year with Stafford as his teammate and the veteran signal caller is still making throws that blow away No. 99.

“He’s just looking like Matthew Stafford,” Donald said Thursday. “I think he’s playing good football right now, playing confident, looks like he’s having a lot of fun out there and it’s showing. He’s making some amazing throws, some things that still shock me to see. Just glad he’s on our side, on our team. Obviously, I’m confident any time we’ve got that guy out there, we’ve always got a chance to win.”

The aforementioned throw to Nacua was one of his best of the season, making an incredibly difficult pass look surprisingly easy by putting it in the perfect spot where only his receiver could catch it.

It really doesn’t get much better than this.

It’s even better when you consider the circumstances of the Rams trailing by one point in the fourth quarter in rainy Baltimore against a top-flight defense.

Perfection.

Stafford has been in the league a long time – since 2009, to be exact – but he’s still making some ridiculously good throws that you may not expect a 35-year-old to make.
