Aaron Donald leads PFF’s 5 highest-graded Rams defenders in Week 5

Russell Wilson had very little trouble moving the football against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night en route to a 30-29 victory for the Seahawks. He had a near-perfect passer rating of 151.8, picking apart a secondary that made countless mistakes.

The Rams defense may have struggled as a whole, but there were a few players who stood out with strong performances. Aaron Donald was unsurprisingly one of them, even if he didn’t have a sack in the game.

He finished with three tackles (one for a loss) and a quarterback hit, as well as the team’s highest grade for a defensive player, according to Pro Football Focus. Donald was joined by Michael Brockers, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Marcus Peters and Dante Fowler Jr. among the five highest-graded players.

It’s somewhat surprising to see Peters on the list, but both Eric Weddle and Sean McVay said the long touchdown to DK Metcalf wasn’t the cornerback’s fault. Weddle blew his coverage and vacated the deep middle.

Robey-Coleman forced a fumble on the Seahawks’ first drive, which led to three points, while Fowler pressured Wilson a handful of times and pushed him out of the pocket. Brockers was stout inside despite Seattle’s success in the running game.
