Aaron Cresswell a major doubt for West Ham as Manuel Pellegrini faces defensive headache

Aaron Cresswell looks set to miss West Ham’s home match against Cardiff.

The left-back suffered a hamstring injury during the 3-0 win at Newcastle on Saturday and was being assessed today.

West Ham’s other concern is centre-back Fabian Balbuena, who has a leg injury.

Pablo Zabaleta could also be replaced at right-back, after boss Manuel Pellegrini hinted the 33-year-old will struggle to play seven matches this month.

It is unlikely, however, that Pellegrini would want make a third change to his back four for tomorrow’s match.

Midfielder Declan Rice, meanwhile, is targeting six points from tomorrow’s match and Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace.

“This win over Newcastle was a special start for us,” he said. “We now have two home games and it’s a great chance for us to pick up six points and move up the table.”
