Aaron Connolly with a stunning curling strike in Brighton's 3-0 win over Newcastle

Aaron Connolly wrapped up a 3-0 win for Brighton over Newcastle with a superb curling strike this afternoon.

The Ireland striker started up front with Neal Maupay for the Seagulls at St. James' Park.

And it was Maupay who put Brighton 2-0 up within ten minutes thanks to a penalty and a close-range effort.

Connolly though was causing problems for the Toon defence throughout with his pace and movement.

And his patience told in the 83rd minute when he collected the ball at the edge of the box and beautifully curled it inside the far post past Karl Darlow.

It is a first Premier League goal of the season for Galway man Connolly, and it was reminiscent of a goal the 20-year-old scored to burst onto the scene against Tottenham last term.

The exciting youngster started both of Stephen Kenny's first two games in charge of Ireland in the Nations League earlier this month.
