Aaron Connolly ruled out of Denmark and New Zealand double header

Aaron Connolly is out of Ireland’s upcoming games against New Zealand and Denmark.

The Brighton forward had a scan on his injured groin in England today and Mick McCarthy has tonight ruled him out.

Connolly was forced off at half-time in Brighton’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

McCarthy said tonight: “Our team doctor Alan Byrne has spoken to the Brighton medical team and had a look at the scans.

“The scans have confirmed the groin injury and Aaron won’t be ready in time for New Zealand and Denmark.”

McCarthy won’t be calling up a replacement for Connolly ahead of Thursday’s friendly and Monday’s key qualifier.
