Motherwell have swooped to sign giant goalkeeper Aaron Chapman as cover for Trevor Carson.
Stephen Robinson snapped up the 30-year-old on a free transfer after he left Peterborough United.
Well were dealt a blow in pre-season when Scott Fox ruptured an ACL just weeks after signing at Fir Park - an injury which ruled the keeper out for the season.
PJ Morrison has filled the back-up void in the Premiership so far this season but Robinson is set to farm the 22-year-old out on loan for game time.
Chapman - who stands at 6ft 7in - arrives on a one-year deal and with good pedigree after spells at Posh and Accrington Stanley, with whom he won the League Two title in 2018 as well as the divisional ‘Golden Glove’ award for keeping most clean sheets.
Motherwell boss Robinson said: “Aaron comes in to give us experienced cover and competition for Trevor.
“He has played a high number of games at a good level in England, so will prove a valuable addition.
“Importantly, this will also open the door for us to put PJ Morrison on loan. We want to do that so he can gain valuable experience at first team level and we hope to announce a move for him shortly.
“That is vitally important for all young players but especially goalkeepers, who have a limited opportunity.
“Without reserve games, the development of our young players would be affected if we did not take that step. Going out on loan is the perfect way to bridge the gap.”
Chapman made 39 appearances in two years at Peterborough before a short-term spell at Tranmere Rovers on loan last season.
