Rangers have signed teenage keeper Aaron Cervantes from Orange County SC.
The 18-year-old's switch to the Ibrox youth academy is the first professional deal to be struck following the two clubs forging a partnership in December 2019.
A USA international, Cervantes won't yet join Steven Gerrard 's first-team but will remain in California before being sent on-loan in Europe in January.
Ibrox youth boss Craig Mulholland insists the signing is a "major step" in attracting top emerging talent to both clubs.
He said: "We are delighted to welcome Aaron to Rangers and have enjoyed watching his excellent progress with our partners at Orange County.
"He has been exposed at an early age to first team football and will now continue this with a loan in Europe as part of this creative agreement.
" Ross Wilson and I are in constant dialogue with the team at Orange County and this is another major step in the exciting partnership which will see a high calibre of US talent being attracted to Orange County.
"If these young talents show outstanding potential, then they can participate in a jointly developed plan to reach one of Europe’s biggest clubs making Orange County one of the most attractive options for the best young players in the US.
"There are so many exciting player development facets to the partnership and this signing is only that start of some of these innovative concepts being realised.
