Aaron Carter's 'heartless' memoir release postponed after singer's death

Late singer Aaron Carter's upcoming memoir has been postponed for release, in a bid to show respect to his grieving family and friends.

The star was found dead in his bathtub at his Californian home on November 5 by his housekeeper. The cause of death is still to be confirmed by autopsy.

Aaron Carter's memoir, Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life, was due to be released just ten days after the singer died, but plans for the release have been put on hold.

The book has already been slammed by Carter's family and his former girlfriend Hilary Duff, who have called the memoir a 'heartless money grab'.

The book is reported to have details of how Carter and Duff lost their virginity to each other as teenage stars.

However, author Andy Symonds who co-wrote the book with Carter has hit back at criticism.

Andy's attorney Scott Atherton spoke on behalf of Symonds and Carter as he represented Ballast Books as he told the Daily Mail : "Out of respect for the Carter family, my client has decided to defer the further release of the book at this time.

"Mr. Carter was not just a celebrity but also a father, a brother, a son, and a friend to many still grieving for him."

On behalf of Symonds, Atherton added that the memoir has a far broader message which needs to be heard.

He added that "the more important story is about Mr. Carter's life and what people can learn from his professional success, personal struggles, and tragic passing."

Symonds added: "Aaron Carter hired me to help him tell the world his story. That story, while tragically cut short, was filled with good and bad.

"His life was far from pretty, and understandably certain people in the public eye don't want some of the stories Aaron tells in his book to come to light."

One chapter that has been hotly discussed is a chapter discussing Aaron Carter and Hilary Duff, with Carter reportedly stating he took 13 year old Duff's virginity.

However, Duff has hit back in a statement: "It's really sad that within a week of Aaron's death, there's a publisher that seems to be recklessly pushing a book out to capitalise on this tragedy without taking appropriate time or care to fact check the validity of his work."

She added: "To water down Aaron's life story to what seems to be unverified click-bait for profit is disgusting. In no way do I condone shedding any light on what is so obviously an uninformed, heartless, money grab."
