Aaron Carter's family are reportedly 'convinced his death was unintentional'.
The singer-turned-rapper's family say he 'had a lot to look forward to' during the holidays and was 'in a really good place' before his body was found.
He was found dead in his Californian home aged just 34 on Saturday, a day after a 'scheduled rehab therapy session'.
Police received a call at around 11am on November 5 after he was reportedly discovered 'unresponsive' in his bathtub by a member of staff.
Law enforcement officers reportedly didn't find a suicide note and homicide detectives found 'no information or evidence of foul play'.
Quoting sources, TMZ has reported: "Family sources connected to Aaron say the singer had a lot he was looking forward to, and for the first time in a while, he and his ex, Melanie Martin, were in a really good place with their relationship.
"Family sources say if anything, Aaron couldn't wait for the holidays, and was even planning on spending time with both Melanie and their young son, Prince.
"He also had set up appointments with a family counselor and social worker - which he knew would help his chances of being a more involved parent."
Sources are claiming that Aaron's on-off fiancée Melanie had signed him up for 'rehab therapy sessions' and that he was scheduled for a session on the Friday before he was found.
An insider close to Melanie claims that Aaron had agreed to take part in the programme in a bid to regain some custody of his son Prince, who is under the care of mum Melanie.
TMZ reported: "Aaron was supposed to have an online session Friday evening, but was a no-show. When the facility reached out to tell Melanie, she broke the tragic news to them.
"Keep in mind, it's possible, if not likely, Aaron missed that appointment because he'd already died."
Aaron, famous for tunes such as I Want Candy, was confirmed dead by his devastated team in a media statement.
"Right now it’s a really bad time we’re trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was," a representative from the singer’s team told the PA news agency.
"We’re just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family."
