Aaron Burbridge retires from NFL after four seasons

Aaron Burbridge’s NFL career never really got going and today he is hanging up the cleats per ESPN’s Field Yates.

As Yates alludes to, injuries really derailed Burbridg’es NFL career. He only saw the field in one season, 2016, during which he hauled in seven passes for 88 yards receiving.

Burbridge was a 6th round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2016 after a breakout senior season at MSU.

He had 85 catches for 1,258 yards and seven TDs as Connor Cook’s go-to guy during MSU’s run to the College Football Playoff. He was named the Big Ten Receiver of the Year that season.

He finished his Spartan career with more than 2,100 yards receiving and ten TDs.

Burbridge was placed on injured reserve with San Francisco in 2017 and 2018 before being released. He signed a futures contract with Denver this January, but ultimately decided to retire before reporting to training camp.
