Aaron Bolger makes Cardiff City switch permanent

Shamrock Rovers midfielder Aaron Bolger has completed his move to Cardiff City.

Bolger, 19, was loaned to Cardiff in January, but made a permanent switch to the Championship side today.

The Ireland underage star is expected to continue playing for the Bluebirds' U-23 side where he has impressed this year.

Bolger joined the Hoops in 2016 and made 16 academy appearances before making his senior debut at just 16 years of age in a FAI Cup tie against Cork City.

He went on to make 36 competitive appearances before Neil Warnock came calling for the highly rated midfielder.

The teenager is expected to be part of Tom Mohan's Ireland squad for the Under-19 European Championships this month.

Rovers said: "After a number of months on loan, Aaron Bolger has become a Cardiff City player.

"The transfer of the midfielder comes after Aaron impressed in his loan spell with the Cardiff City U23s earlier this year.

"All at Shamrock Rovers FC wish Aaron well with the move."
