CHANDIGARH: AAP Punjab delegation on Wednesday met the families of farmers allegedly killed by Union minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish in Lakhimpur Kheri, after being released by the UP Police. Chadha said he made the family members of the victim farmer talk to AAPs national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on the phone. “Expressing sympathy with the family members of the victims, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has assured that the Aam Aadmi Party would extend all possible legal and financial assistance to all the aggrieved farming families. Will always stand by them and will be available on the phone anytime,” he said.
Chadha said the delegation assured the victims’ families help and support, including free legal aid. He said the party has firmly stood with the country’s ‘annadatas’ against the dictatorship of the BJP government and will continue to stand with them till the farmers’ movement wins.

‘MODI, YOGI THROTTLING DEMOCRACY’
Accusing the Narendra Modi-led Union government and the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh of “throttling” the democracy, AAP Punjab staged protests against the governments and burnt effigies of the Prime Minister and UP CM in all the assembly constituencies of the state. AAP MLA and Kisan wing Punjab president Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the party leaders and volunteers demanded the arrest of Union minister Ajay Mishra’s son and his dismissal along with a fair investigation. “The Lakhimpur Kheri violence is a blot on our democracy. The oppression on the farmers is not acceptable,” he said, adding that it’s only ‘goonda raj’ of batons and bullets system in UP. The AAP leader claimed that instead of taking action against the minister’s son, the BJP government is trying to save him.
