AAP govt lost trust of people in 9 months: Punjab Congress

CHANDIGARH: Coming out in support of protesters who were forcibly removed from outside a liquor distillery unit in Zira, Punjab Congress asserted that no ruling political party in the history of state had lost the trust of the people as prematurely as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Terming the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government as an "assemblage of fraudsters", Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa condemned the police action on protesters outside the liquor distillery.

"Within nine months of the formation of the government, the people have started expressing disbelief in the AAP government. There are innumerable examples demonstrating that the government has failed miserably to keep the promises it made before and after the elections,” said Bajwa, who is also leader of opposition in the state’s legislative assembly.

Bajwa’s statement came in the wake of protesters outside the liquor distillery unit at Mansurwala village in the Zira subdivision saying that they lost trust in the AAP government in the presence of Punjab agriculture minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.

On Saturday, the minister had reached out to the protesters, assuring them that justice would be delivered within a month. However, the protesters rejected the assurance, stating they had no trust in the government because another leader of the AAP government, speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, had failed to keep his promise to the protesters in Behbal Kalan, Faridkot.

“This is the kind of image the AAP government has in the eyes of the people of Punjab,” Bajwa said.
