AAB names North Sea expert as head of E&P to help oil producers in crisis

Business advisory firm Anderson Anderson & Brown has appointed Alasdair Green as head of E&P to help oil & gas clients at a critical time for the industry.

Green steps up from his previous role as head of E&P (exploration and production) as companies deal with a Brent Crude price which on Tuesday dipped to a 21-year low of below $16.

AAB said it wanted to show commitment to the sector by putting Green in charge of a 40-plus strong team across Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London.

Chief commercial officer Douglas Martin, said: “Alasdair’s appointment to head of E&P reflects the progress we have made in the last two years in developing a much broader service offering and client base across the upstream oil and gas sector.

"However, given the significant challenges faced by the oil and gas community, we are repositioning and refocusing our offering in the areas where clients need our support most in the year ahead.

"Alasdair’s new role is part of an extensive range of measures to support our client base at this time, and he will be working very closely with our dedicated Covid-19 support team to ensure we continue to deliver a tremendous service to our clients at a time when they need it most.”

AAB's E&P team includes energy partner John Black, head of upstream audit Ian McPherson and Graeme Robertson, senior manager, JV & contract audit.

Since the coronavirus shutdown decimated demand for oil, production companies of all sizes have announced large spending cuts. AAB says there is a heightened need for expertise in areas including outsourced and virtual finance, JV and contract audit, statutory audit, tax advisory, transaction support and supply chain review.
