A92 BMW driver clocked at 121mph tested positive for cannabis

A BMW driver clocked doing 121mph on the A92 on Monday night failed a roadside drugs test, police have said.

The car was stopped by Fife's Road Policing Unit near Kirkcaldy where officers were working on the National Speeding campaign.

Taking to Twitter, Road Policing Scotland reminded drivers that 'Faster speeds mean greater impacts'.

They said: "Fife RP were on the A92 nr Kirkcaldy tonight as part of the National Speeding campaign.

"The driver of this BMW didn’t expect to see us whilst driving at 121mph. Maybe because he gave a positive cannabis Drug Wipe.

"Faster speeds mean greater impacts. #SlowDownSaveLives."

A roads are main fast single or dual carriageway roads. If the road is single lane, the national speed limit will be 60mph. Dual carriageways are also A roads, but they have a speed limit of 70mph.
