A90 in Edinburgh closed for two days as part of Burnshot Bridge replacement works this weekend

The A90 in Edinburgh will close for two days as part of the Burnshot Bridge replacement works this weekend.

The busy route will be off-limits to traffic at Craigiehall, just north of Cramond Brig, from 8pm on Friday to 7pm on Sunday.

The City of Edinburgh Council say this is to allow for the installation of 17 main bridge beams at the structure. The slip roads either side of the A90 will remain open, but people are being urged to plan their journey in advance and take into account any delays.

The £3million project to build a new bridge, which will run across the A90 near Kirkliston, started in April following the demolition of the original structure two years ago.

Reduced speed limits have been in-place on both the northbound and southbound routes, with police regularly monitoring the stretch of road for speeding.

The new Burnshot Bridge is expected to open in spring time.
