A9 road closures in Perthshire postponed due to bad weather

Three overnight closures of the A9 which were due to take place this week have been postponed.

Transport Scotland has said this is because of the ongoing adverse weather conditions.

The A9 was due to be closed overnight from Wednesday, February 12 until today (Friday, February 14) between Luncarty and the A923 Dunkeld junction.

Bridge beams were due to be installed during the closure to make way for a new overbridge at Gelly, and diversions were to be put in place.

However, the three overnight road closures are due to take place next week instead, from Tuesday, February 18 until Thursday, February 20 between 8.30pm and 6am each night.

A spokesperson for Transport Scotland said: “Road users are advised that all three planned overnight closures of the A9 between Luncarty and Dunkeld on Wednesday, February 12, Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14, have now been postponed due to the effects of ongoing adverse weather conditions.

“The three overnight closures have been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 18, Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20, between 8.30pm and 6am, weather permitting.

“Signed diversion routes will be in place on approach to the closure area, via the A85 for northbound traffic and via the A923 Dunkeld junction for southbound traffic.

“We would like to thank road users for their patience while we endeavour to complete these works in challenging winter conditions.”

Transport Scotland has asked motorists to follow them on Facebook and Twitter on @transscotland for further updates.
