A9 closed after HGV overturns in Perthshire

The A9 is closed northbound due to an oil spill.

A HGV overturned near Bankfoot at around 9.30am this morning (Tuesday, October 8).

The overturned lorry caused an oil spill, which has damaged the carriageway.

To begin with the A9 was closed in both directions, however the southbound lane reopened at around 10.30am.

The northbound carriageway remains closed.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland has said it will take some time to clear the carriageway of the spilt oil, and will also take time for the traffic on the southbound carriageway to clear.
