A77 at Kilmarnock on lockdown as police tell drivers to avoid the area

Police have closed part of the A77 this morning due to a police incident.

The northbound road is closed at the Bellfield Interchange with traffic being diverted off at the roundabout.

Officers have advised motorists to avoid the area.

Drivers have reported being caught in huge delays with traffic currently at a standstill.

The police statement said: "The A77 northbound is closed at Bellfield Interchange, Kilmarnock due to a police incident.

"Traffic is being diverted off the A77 at the Bellfield Interchange. Please avoid the area."
