A77 at Bellfield Interchange closed after sudden death of man

Part of the A77 at Kilmarnock remains closed this morning following the sudden death of a man.

Police were called to Bellfield Interchange at 5.30am today following the death of a 39-year-old man.

Officials have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances.

The A77 was initially closed in both directions following the incident.

Police remain at the scene and the road is still closed southbound, officers confirmed.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police were called around 5.30am on Monday, June 8, following the sudden death of a 39-year-old man at the Bellfield Interchange, Kilmarnock.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

"The A77 road is currently closed southbound."
