A76 motorists urged to be aware as £163,000 resurfacing project begins

Drivers using the A76 in East Ayrshire are being warned of overnight resurfacing works which will begin this evening.

The £163,309 scheme is on a stretch of the key route between North Bargower and Crossroads.

Maintenance teams will be in action at the site from 8pm to 6am with temporary traffic lights utilised outwith these hours.

It's hoped the work will be finished early on Saturday morning. A convoy system will be used to ensure traffic flow until that point.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the network management contract for the south-west trunk road unit, say the scheme will benefit almost 10,000 vehicles who use the road each day.

A spokesperson added: "All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable."
