A lane of the A71 in Kilmarnock is closed until further notice following an accident earlier this week.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA) confirmed last night that the slow lane of the busy route eastbound would be shut between Moorfield and Bellfield.
Roads chiefs say the lane will be out of action until further notice so that a full damage assessment can be carried out with repairs also made.
The closure took effect in the early hours of Saturday morning.
And the news comes as motorists face disruption on the A77 with a £135,000 programme of expansion joint replacements work swings into action around the Bellfield Interchange.
Work on that project is taking place overnight between 9pm and 6am until mid-August. Road closures and diversions will be put in place as five structures are upgraded.
