A706 road still closed 10 hours after ‘serious' crash as accident investigators work at the scene

Accident Investigators remain at work on a road in West Lothian more than 10 hours after a ‘serious accident’ occurred there.

Police closed the A706 near Whitburn shortly after receiving a call to a serious crash at 5am this morning.

Update: Police Scotland have said that two men died as a result of the crash.

 

According to traffic monitoring services crash investgation work remains ongoing there this afternoon with no word when the road will re-open.

As of 3.40pm today (Saturday) traffic reporting service Inrix says: “A706 Longridge Road in both directions closed due to accident investigation work from B7010 Fauldhouse Road to Blaeberryhill Road.

“Impacting traffic between Longridge and Whitburn.”

A statement from West Lothian Police issued at around 5.45am read: “Officers were called to the A706 Longridge Road, Whitburn following a report of a serious road traffic accident, which was received around 0500 hrs on Saturday 29th August 2020. Emergency services remain in attendance and road closures are in place.”

Edinburgh Live was told by Police Scotland that they had ‘no further update’ on the incident at the time of publication.
