Emergency services raced to the scene of a "serious road traffic collision" in West Lothian in the early hours of this morning.
Police and ambulance crew raced to the Whitdale Roundabout in Whitburn at 4:30am this morning following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The A706 in Whitburn has been closed in both directions,between the Whitdale Roundabout and Boghead Roundabout, since around 5am.
West Lothian Police took to Facebook earlier this morning to warn commuters of the closure.
A spokesperson for the division said: "A706 closed in both directions, between the Whitdale Roundabout and Bogside Roundabout (sic) #Whitburn due to a serious road accident. Thank you for your patience."
Police are still in attendance at the scene and the road remains sealed off. This is causing delays on the B8084 through Whitburn and Armdale.
It is not yet know if anyone was seriously injured.
