A7 crash: Two-vehicle collision between Midlothian and borders causing long tailbacks

A crash involving two vehicles on the A7 at Falahill this afternoon is causing long delays as far back as Gorebridge in Midlothian.

A local in Gorebridge described how they were stuck in "long tailbacks" caused by the incident which occurred at Fallahil just north of Middleton this afternoon.

Another eyewitness described how somebody has been "cut out" of one of the cars involved in the smash, but luckily police confirmed to Edinburgh Live that no one has been seriously injured in the crash.

The news comes as locals in the area had been complaining of horrendous "snowdrifts" caused by the recent yellow weather warning for snow that has been in place in Edinburgh and the Lothians for a number of days now.

The Met Office warned of treacherous driving conditions, saying: "There is a chance that dangerous driving conditions may occur in at least a few places, leading to road traffic collisions, road closures and longer journey times by public and private transport."
