A57 Liverpool Road closed in both directions as person taken to hospital after crash in Irlam

A person has been taken to hospital following a crash on the A57 near to Irlam.

A57 Liverpool Road is closed in both directions due to the incident.

Emergency services were called at around 9.30am this morning (Monday, 26 April) to reports of a road traffic collision between two cars.

One person has been taken to hospital but they are not believed to have suffered any major injuries.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service confirmed: “We are in attendance following an RTC reported at 09:30.

“Situation still ongoing and one patient conveyed to hospital so far - no major trauma.”

Heavy traffic delays were reported in the Irlam, Barton and Boysnope areas following the incident.

The A57 Liverpool Road in Barton has since been closed in both directions while emergency services respond.

Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: “A57 Liverpool Road, Barton is closed in both directions near Boysnope Wharf due to an RTC.

“Please find alternative route.”

Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service have both been contacted for a statement.
