A52 reopens after serious crash that shut road for hours

The A52 has reopened after a serious crash on Saturday evening closed the road for several hours.

The road was closed from after around 6pm westbound between the M1 J25 and the A5111 near Risley due to the collision. Derbyshire Police were called to the scene and described the incident as a "serious collision".

Highways England tweeted at midnight: "The A52 Eastbound between A5111 Derby and the M1 has reopened."

Following the incident, drivers were warned over delays.

Road users are advised to follow the hollow diamond symbol on road signs and should take the M1 southbound and exit at J24a then take the A50 westbound to Aston-on-Trent.

Drivers were then take the A6 (Derby spur) and continue onto the A6 to merge with the A5111 and re-join the A52 at Raynesway.
