A52 near Clifton Bridge reopened after crash closed road for more than 6 hours

Emergency services have reopened the A52 near Clifton Bridge which was shut for more than six hours following a crash.

The A52 in West Bridgford, from the Nottingham Knight island to Clifton Bridge heading into the city, has since reopened following the crash involving a van and a car on Thursday, June 4.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed a man was taken to hospital but added his injuries are not believed to be serious.

Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service, fire engines and traffic officers were all called to the scene at around 2.20pm on Thursday.

The force put out an update to say the road had been reopened at 9.15pm.

Highways England put a diversion in place and told drivers to allow more time for their journey.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted at the time: "Crews from West Bridgford and Highfields attended a RTC on the A52 Westbound at Wilford.

"Vehicles involved have been made safe."

Bus services were also affected through the afternoon.
