A52 fully reopens after bin lorry crash causes traffic build-up

A busy section of the A52 has reopened after a skip fell off a bin lorry and closed two lanes of the road.

There was a lot of disruption after the incident which took place off the Thane Road roundabout as of 8.49am on Thursday, June 17.

Two lanes of the A52 were closed for a lot of Thursday which led to a lot of queuing traffic in the area.

A cordon was put in place after the incident, with police and Highways England working at the scene to make it safe.

Traffic website Inrix posted an update on Thursday evening which said: It said: "Lanes one and two (of three) are closed on the A52, and there is no access to the exit slip road for the industrial estate to allow for emergency repairs to an overhead gantry.

"Lane closures are expected to remain overnight until repairs are completed."

However, pictures taken on the road on Friday morning, June 18, show it has fully reopened to motorists.

An eyewitness previously stated that the lorry had hit a gantry and a damaged lorry and its load could be seen within the police cordon. An overhead sign had also been visibly damaged.
