A52 Clifton Bridge lane to re-open after the Nottingham Forest vs Charlton game

Highways England has confirmed one lane on Clifton Bridge is set to re-open tonight (Tuesday, February 11).

The eastbound bridge has been closed since Thursday, February 6, but one lane is now due to re-open in time for football traffic leaving the City Ground at around 9.30pm.

All lanes westbound remain open.

It comes as the Reds are due to face Charlton Athletic, but closures will remain ahead of kick-off at 7.45pm, and motorists have been advised to plan well ahead.

Highways England regional director, Catherine Brookes said: “The structure itself remains safe and we’re re-opening one lane on the eastbound side of the bridge to help those leaving the football match this evening.

"We know how busy this stretch of the A52 is and we're really grateful to motorists for their patience.

"Concrete repairs were uncovered during a routine structural inspection and we put together a package of repairs that began last week."

Nottinghamshire Police and the city council has been working with the Highways agency to keep traffic flowing after huge delays across the city.
