A487 crash: Two women die after car and lorry collide in Gwynedd

A serious crash between a car and a lorry has claimed the lives of two women.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the A487 in Gwynedd, Wales, following the crash between a red Volkswagen Polo and a rigid flatbed yellow lorry.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, both the woman driving the car and a woman who was a passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene, the Daily Post reported.

Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for any witnesses to come forward following the crash at 3.30pm today.

He said: “Sadly this is being investigated as a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts remain with the family of those who died.

"They will now be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

“I am urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who was travelling along the A487 just prior to the collision and who may have dash cam footage to come forward.

"We now need to piece together what happened, so anybody who has information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact us urgently.”
